Nicole Malliotakis sees reconciliation in State of the Union speech

Featured Nicole Malliotakis sees reconciliation in State of the Union speech

Nicole Malliotakis, the first Greek-American woman elected to office in New York Stateand a candidate for Congress in the 2020 elections, posted her own message of moderation and rapprochement following Donald Trump's State of the Union speech.

"Tonight, in his State of the Union speech, President Trump celebrated America’s history of greatness and called for unity and compromise to solve the problems that all Americans want to see addressed for the good of our nation. These issues are not Democrat or Republican issues. These are bipartisan issues that include securing our southern border and creating an immigration policy that protects our citizens while welcoming those who want an opportunity to achieve the American Dream, easing access to prescription drugs so everyone can afford the medicine they need, rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure and supporting policies that will enable our economy to continue its growth. President Trump has offered an olive branch and now it’s up to Speaker Pelosi, Senator Schumer and the Democrats in Congress to stop placating the most radical members of their party and negotiate in good faith to achieve the best deal on behalf of the American people. Just like the generations of Americans that came before us and worked together to overcome challenges and reach new levels, Congress must look beyond party label, choose greatness, and put our nation and its citizens first."
