South Sinai Governor: Continued efforts to protect the religious and cultural heritage of the monastery of Saint Catherine

The Governor of South Sinai met the Bishop of Saint Catherine's Monastery in Athens in the presence of the Egyptian Ambassador to Greece.
The monastery bishop praises the state's efforts in developing the city of "Saint Catherine" under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Dr. Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai, met with Bishop "Dimitrios Demianios," Bishop of St. Catherine Monastery, at his residence in Athens, in the presence of Ambassador Omar Amer, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Athens.
The meeting took place within the framework of continuous communication and coordination, fruitful and constructive cooperation, and the historic relationship between South Sinai Governorate and the "Saint Catherine Monastery" archaeological diocese.
The Governor of South Sinai affirmed the ongoing cooperation with the monastery, pointing to the efforts made to protect the religious and cultural heritage of the monastery, considering it an important religious and historical symbol.This is part of the efforts to fully develop the "Saint Catherine" area, aiming to showcase this sacred spot in its most splendid form, in appreciation of its spiritual value as the land of the "Great Revelation," and to transform it into a global tourist destination that reflects its uniqueness.
For his part, Bishop "Demetrius" expressed his gratitude to the governor for the state's efforts in developing the city of "Saint Catherine" under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, wishing for continued cooperation to achieve the ongoing development of the monastery to serve its visitors from tourists from all over the world as a religious and tourist site. And the bishop promised to visit the governor as soon as he returns from Greece in response to the kind invitation.
At the end of the meeting, both sides exchanged commemorative gifts, and the governor presented a miniature model of St. Catherine's Monastery as a gesture of appreciation and a commitment to continuing cooperation that serves the public interest and strengthens the rich historical and cultural ties.
