Donald Trump: Nominates Greek-American Jimmy Patronis for Florida’s vacant House seat
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Donald Trump expressed his support for Greek-American Jimmy Patronis for the special election to be held in Florida to fill the vacant House seat.
The new US president encouraged Mr. Patronis, the state’s current financial director, to run in the elections that will be held due to the resignation of former congressman Matt Gates.
In a post on the conservative platform Truth Social, Donald Trump praised Jimmy Patronis as a personal friend and supporter of the MAGA movement, noting that he would have his full support if he chose to run.
As he explained, the Greek-American politician shares the same priorities related to economic development, border security, energy independence and the right to bear arms.
For his part, Jimmy Patronis responded enthusiastically on Platform X, saying “put me to work, Mr. President! I am here to serve”.
If Mr. Patronis decides to run and manages to be elected, he will be the seventh Greek-American to serve in the new House of Representatives. In the November elections, representatives Gus Bilirakis, Chris Pappas, Nicole Malliotaki, and Dina Titus were re-elected, with the Greek team being strengthened with Maggie Goodlander and Mike Charidopoulos who managed to be elected for the first time.
