With their eyes on the parade of the Greek community in Philadelphia, the executives and members of the Federation of Greek Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware attended the New Year's Eve event organized on the evening of Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the Ikarian House in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

The event was hosted by the branch of the Pan-Ikarian Brotherhood "Athera" and there wassn't an empty seat in the hall.

The event was attended by the Metropolitan of New Jersey, Mr. Apostolos and other priests from the communities of the Nelaguear Valley, as well as the Consul General of Panama in Philadelphia, Ms. Georgia Athanasopoulou.

Metropolitan Apostolos performed the consecration and then blessed and cut the vasilopita.

Apostolos referred to the recent meeting of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where, among other things, they discussed the protection of Christians in Syria.

As Apostolos pointed out, Bartholomew works for peace and for this reason he is also called the peace-making Patriarch.

The president of the Federation of Greek Associations of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware, Judge Harris Karapalides, welcomed Mr. Apostolos, the priests and representatives of the communities and associations and called on them to take initiatives to mobilize the Greek diaspora for a universal participation in the Greek diaspora parade for the 204th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.

The parade will take place at noon on Sunday, April 6, 2025 in the heart of Philadelphia with the participation of the Evzones of the Presidential Guard.

The events for the 204th anniversary of the Greek Revolution will begin at noon on Friday, April 4, 2025 with the raising of the blue and white flag at Philadelphia City Hall and will continue on Saturday, April 5, 2025 with the official dinner that will take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Philadelphia where the Medal of Freedom will be awarded to the parade masters Drake and Maria Behrakis.

Sunday's events will begin with the Divine Liturgy and Doxology by the presiding Metropolitan of New Jersey, Mr. Apostolos, which will be celebrated at the historic church of St. George in Philadelphia and will continue with the magnificent parade in the heart of Philadelphia.

Greetings were delivered by former president Georgia Chletsou and former president George Choriatis and other leading figures of the Federation.
