- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Nikos Dendias is in Chicago and has made a series of contacts. Minister of Defense Nikos Dendias met with members of the Greek diaspora at the "KORAIS" Diaspora Elementary School and at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen as part of his official visit to Chicago.
"With great pleasure I visited the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Chicago and the "Korais" Diaspora School, where 200 students, mainly of Greek origin, attend.
And here Greece is flourishing and continues to be strong, thanks to these children and their teachers," Mr. Dendias said in a post on X.
The Minister of Defense was given a tour of the Greek-American school and played basketball with the students.
Chicago: Students asked Dendias to show them how to shoot free throws
As the verse by Dionysis Savvopoulos says, "how can you hide from the children?" In Chicago, the students of the Greek-American school "Korais" asked me to show them how to shoot free throws and I responded. Their smile was the greatest reward," Mr. Dendias said in a post on X.
Mr. Dendias then met in Chicago with the Greek-American Secretary of the Interior of the state of Illinois, Mr. Alexis Giannoulias with whom they discussed issues of mutual interest.
