An official announcement on the Facebook page of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople states that Archbishop Demetrios of America has finally submitted his resignation to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

Archbishop Demetrios of America, accompanied by Archdeacon Panteleimon Papadopoulos, is leaving tomorrow 2 May 2019 for Phanari, where he will meet with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in order to inform him about current issues of the Holy Archdiocese of America.

The inauguration of the largest Orthodox church in the world took place yesterday in the presence of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
