Olympiakos - Juventus 1-0
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Thanks to goalkeeper Roberto's heroics under the goalpost, Olympiacos Piraeus narrowly defeated Juventus thanks to a goal by Swiss midfielder Pajtim Kasami.
Pajtim Kasami scored in the first half as Olympiacos Piraeus beat Juventus 1-0 in the Champions League to share the Group A lead with last year's finalist Atletico Madrid.
The Swiss midfielder shot past Gianluigi Buffon in the 36th minute. Alejandro Dominguez found striker Kostas Mitroglou who expertly passed the ball backward to set up the goal.
Dominguez cut open the Italian defence all evening at Karaiskaki stadium in Piraeus, missing two scoring chances himself and setting up Kasami in the 60th, when his shot rolled past the post.
Goalkeeper Roberto heroically maintained Olympickos' lead as Juventus piled on pressure in the last 25 minutes, twice stopping goal bound shots from Alvaro Morata and also denying Carlos Tevez.
This was Juve’s second consecutive Champions League defeat, so now Atletico Madrid and Olympiacos lead the group on six points, while Juventus and Malmo have three.
