Greek women's water polo brings home gold from China

The “golden” girls of the Greek women’s national polo team returned to Athens a day after winning the world championship and first place at the World Cup in China.
Upon their arrival, the champions of Haris Pavlidis were welcomed by a large crowd, relatives and friends, who gave them their warmest applause.
After the commemorative photos, holding the precious trophy in her hands, the team captain Eleftheria Plevritou made the following statements: “We are very happy, it is something we have been fighting for for many years. The last time we won a medal at the World Cup was in 2012, which was my first event, so there is a long difference. Now it is gold, of course it is different, I say it and it makes me shudder. Now we are quite tired, it may not seem like it, but we want to try our best in every tournament. The big goal is the World Championship, so we are waiting for the summer for Singapore.”
Responding to the difficulties of preparation, she said that all the girls are in clubs that already have matches. “The preparation in Alexandroupolis and later was very difficult, because there was no time. But we also tried to prove some things.”
It is noted that this is the 4th gold for Greece in a major competition after the peaks in the 2005 World League, the 2011 World Championship and the 2018 Europa Cup had preceded.
