Novak Djokovic's "lightning" trip to Athens: He is thinking of settling permanently, saw houses and schools for his children
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The Serbian tennis player was in the capital, where he did research on his children's school, saw houses in the northern suburbs, and it is very likely that he will also invest in tennis courts at the Olympic Center OAKA
His huge career is coming to an end, as he himself has admitted in recent months and he is slowly preparing for the day after.
Novak Djokovic, the man who has broken every record in tennis (he has the most Grand Slams, he is the one who has spent the most weeks at No. 1 in the world rankings and many more) is very likely to become a permanent resident of Athens with his retirement.
And this was precisely the reason for the express visit he made in the last few hours to the capital.
The Serbian tennis player, accompanied by his wife Jelena, visited private schools in order to have a clear idea of where their children will attend, once they finalize their decision, while at the same time they saw houses in the northern suburbs.
In addition, Djokovic is reportedly determined to invest in tennis courts at the OAKA facilities, although it is not yet clear whether this plan has anything to do with the academy that his former Italian coach, Riccardo Piatti, has in the works, who has been in Athens since the beginning of the week.
His love for Greece
Nole has never hidden his love for Greece. Not that he has ever been successful against any country, but the truth is that he often reminds us of the ties that unite the two countries and how he feels about the Greeks.
Even on the day he celebrated his Olympic gold medal at the Eiffel Tower, he had mentioned the love of the Greeks.
Something he had done after his match with Markos Bagdatis, where the Australian Open audience (Greeks and Serbs) adored both of them, with him in his statements speaking of “Orthodox brothers”.
During a visit to Greece, he had also announced that his wife Jelena was pregnant with their first child.
And of course they had also visited the Parthenon, while he has stated many times: “I love Greece, like every Serbian citizen! Our relationship goes far back in history, we are united by religion and we have strong ties of culture and tradition”.
