Maria Sakkari entered 2026 with a vengeance! The Greek tennis player against a big name, such as Naomi Osaka, did whatever she wanted on the Perth court and prevailed 6-4, 6-2 in the first match of the Greece - Japan tie for the United Cup.
With this victory, Team Hellas took the lead in the tie and in the match that follows, Stefanos Tsitsipas has the advantage against Shintaro Mochizuki to seal the victory for the Greek team.
A match in which it was noticeable that the two tennis players were looking for their competitive rhythm. Unforced errors, serves based on accuracy and not on power and of course, which extended the games in time.
