The Aris U-18 basketball team remains stranded in Abu Dhabi, after the cancellation of the "yellow and black" match against Monaco due to the bombings in the area.

The match was part of a Euroleague tournament. The airspace is closed, but the children remain in very good condition, as their parents report, as they are in constant communication with them. The Aris athletes are in good psychological condition, all together in the hotel, locked up, and the people of Aris have taken care of everything, so that the children are safe.

At the same time, the team is in constant communication with the Euroleague, but also with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since priority will be given, as these are children under 18 years of age, who went there to play in a basketball tournament and found themselves in these difficult situations.

“The children are in a calm state,” says father of Aris athlete
Angelos Kakavikakis, father of one of Aris players, spoke to ERT3 and focused on the good cooperation that exists with the team, which constantly informs them and also ensures that the children are safe.

“The people of Aris are very helpful. Our children are in very good hands. The Euroleague also takes care of everything, has also taken care of the escorts. The children are in a calm state and there are also parents of the children there, not all of them but quite a few. We talk to the children very normally via the internet, the team constantly informs us. There is cooperation. The people are also next to the children psychologically. Last night there were no bombs, now this morning we hear some explosions in the distance, but there is no issue at their hotel. We are waiting for them to open airspace and leave,” stressed Mr. Kakavikakis.
