Greece "on fire" after Olympiacos clinches European championshhip

The atmosphere outside the Municipal Theater of Piraeus was explosive, as thousands of Olympiacos fans cheered the European champions.
After the victory over Real Madrid 92-85 in the EuroLeague final at the “T-Center”, the “red and white” team arrived in Piraeus early Monday morning in an open-top bus, where a big party had been organized.
From early evening, the area around the Municipal Theater was filled with people who created a festive atmosphere until the morning. The first to speak was the mayor of Piraeus, Yiannis Moralis, who congratulated both the players and the team’s fans for their continuous support in all competitions and in difficult or happy moments.
Giorgos Bartzokas’ players received a warm welcome at Korai Square, where a platform had been set up for the protagonists of the European success. Among them were Kostas Papanikolaou, Sasha Vezenkov, Final Four MVP Evan Fournier, Thomas Walkup, Tyler Dorsey, Nikola Milutinov and the rest of the team's athletes.

The huge turnout of fans from many areas of Athens caused heavy traffic on the streets around the city center, resulting in a delay in the arrival of the delegation.
In a final with intense suspense, Olympiacos won the fourth European trophy in its history, returning to the top of Europe after four failed appearances in the Final Four. The "red and white" managed to show character and reach the top of European basketball again.

A festive atmosphere prevailed in other parts of the country, such as Chania, Patras, Nafplio and Argos, where Olympiacos fans took to the streets to celebrate the team’s great success.
