Coach Santos Revamps Greek National Team

As the Huffington Post reports, Portuguese footbal coach Fernando Santos' nickname "Engineer", has proved true of his coaching skills in Greece.

Taking over the national team in 2010, Santos has reconstructed the team back to constantly qualifying at premiere tournaments, once again.

The 59-year-old coach has gained a remarkable 24-13-5 record. He brought the team to Euro 2012, with quarterfinal advancements. This marks Greece's first major stride, since the 2004 European Championship title.

For the last twenty-seven years, Santos has coached both Greek and Portuguese teams including, Benfica, Panathinaikos, AEK Athens, PAOK Thessaloniki and FC Porto. He has been known in Greece as a leader who can revamp struggling teams. The humble trainer stated during Greece's World Cup qualification: "I've never felt anything like it. The Greek people have embraced me".

Leading coach Fernando Santos has remarked that he will retire after the World Cup, "I have a few years left in coaching and I need to think about myself ... After all these years, you get attached to the people around you...So, professionally it wasn't a difficult decision, but emotionally it was".
