Greek Player Maniatis Threatens to Leave World Cup
After a training fight, Greek soccer midfielder Giannis Maniatis was so infuriated he booked a flight to Athens to return home.
The athlete was later convinced not to abandon his team at the World Cup in Brazil. As reported by Sport24, the hotheaded player became extremely angry at teammate Giorgos Tzavellas during training practices.
According to the sports news portal, Maniatis declared to his colleague, "What are you on about? This is not PAOK". The two had to be separated by observers. Maniatis calmed down in his hotel room and agreed not to walk out on his team. Today Greece plays against Japan.
