Kefalogianni: Sustainability, moderation and balance at the heart of Greece's tourism strategy
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The promotion of sustainability, moderation, balance and the protection of the natural and cultural environment dominate Greece's tourism strategy, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said in a presentation at the ITB Berlin. The minister described 2023 as a "benchmark year" for Greece, with record arrivals and revenues, and expressed her optimism for 2024 as well.
The minister arrived in Berlin for the trade fair, which is taking place on March 5-7, on Tuesday.
"All the evidence shows that 2024 will also be an excellent year for Greek tourism. Greece has established itself as one of the leading tourist destinations worldwide and remains at the top, despite the difficult conditions internationally," Kefalogianni said, and emphasised that the government is interested in launching "a new cycle in Greek tourism, with moderation, balance and the protection of the natural and cultural environment at the core of its strategy."
"We are investing in sustainability, upgrading infrastructure and human resources," she added. Kefalogianni had meetings with, among others, international tourism groups, airlines and tour operators.
"What we want is to achieve sustainability goals," she stressed.
