These are destinations that stand out for their culture and serene energy.

Syros, the grand dame of the Cyclades

According to the most popular travel website in the Netherlands that specializes exclusively in Greece and is read by millions of travelers, the lady of the Cyclades wins the top spot.

“Neoclassical elegance” is what the author of the list calls Syros, emphasizing that “the capital of the Cyclades is a special blend of Greek aesthetics and European grandeur.”

"In the city of Ermoupolis, history comes alive in the marble squares, neoclassical mansions and the imposing town hall in Miaoulis Square, designed by the Bavarian architect Ernest Ziller.

The Griekenland.net list is completed by islands from the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and the Ionian Islands.

The new distinction is part of the information efforts of the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupolis to highlight the different elements of the destination. “Syros has a combination of characteristics that can satisfy a wide range of visitors from Greece and abroad. The unique architecture, local culture and civilization blend harmoniously with the unparalleled natural beauty, the exquisite local flavors and the alternative activities, creating unique moments,” said the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of Syros-Ermoupolis Ioannis A.
