  • Written by

New Greek TV has produced a new 4-part series titled, "Greek Kitchen."

In each episode, Chef Nikos Poulmentis demonstrates a simple and savory dish from the homeland that is easy to prepare; an episode can be viewed by scrolling to the very bottom of this page. Chef Poulmentis described of his experience hosting the cooking show, "I liked that I had the chance to expose Greek recipes in a healthy way with some of the best ingredients from back home."

Recipes include risotto, potato balls and cheese flutes. Each item uses Krokos Kozanis, which is Greek Macedonian saffron; one of the world's most valuable and rich varieties. The town of Krokos in Kozani produces approximately six to twelve tons of pure red saffron yearly. The saffron is very high-quality and is a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product.

Chef Poulmentis serves as the executive chef of Midtown Manhattan's bustling Kellari Taverna. When asked about his proudest culinary achievement, the Greek chef states, "My proudest moment was cooking at The White House for President Obama on Greek Independence Day. I was invited by the Greek and American chef club and stayed four days. I cooked for the President's visitors during this period. It was a monumental moment for me."
