The Greek embassy in Washington has intervened diplomatically to prevent a speech by US First Lady Melania Trump from being made public.
According to STAR channel, Melania Trump was due to address Christian Mickoski's wife at an event with the phrase "welcome Macedonia", in the presence of guests from 45 countries.
However, the Greek ambassador to the US capital, Antonis Alexandridis, was informed in time and took the necessary action.
According to the same sources, the US First Lady ultimately referred to the neighboring country by its constitutional name, saying "I welcome North Macedonia"
