Featured Greece is fantastic, it has helped us in many ways, says Trump - Mitsotakis is a terrific guy

Donald Trump spoke positively about Greece on the occasion of Kyriakos Mitsotakis' interview with Breitbart in statements to reporters at the White House.

Among other things, the American president said that "Greece is fantastic" and that "it has helped us a lot in many areas, because it understands the importance."

Regarding the prime minister, Donald Trump said that he is a "terrific guy."

Among other things, Trump was also asked about Iran, with the American president admitting that Iran may have filled its arsenal "a little" during these two weeks of the ceasefire, but he argued that the American armed forces can neutralize it in a day.

He was asked about the possibility of using nuclear weapons against Iran, but he rejected the possibility, even saying that "that is a stupid question."

He reiterated that he is not under pressure to end the war, adding that he wants to secure the best possible deal with Iran.

He argued that the US fully controls the Strait of Hormuz and that he did not want Iran to gain hundreds of millions of dollars from oil exports during the ceasefire.

Finally, he defended his decision to extend the ceasefire, saying that he wanted to give Tehran room to deal with the turmoil in the centers of power, suggesting that the Iranian regime has been shaken and there is a difference of opinion.

Mitsotakis' interview with Breitbart

In an interview with the American online media outlet Breitbart, Kyriakos Mitsotakis had referred to the need to reach an agreement between the United States and Iran in order to end the war in the Middle East and restore stability to energy markets.

In addition, Mr. Mitsotakis expressed hope that the President of the United States will be able to reach an agreement with Iran, which will include the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. He also referred to an upcoming visit by Donald Trump to Greece, emphasizing that the American president “will have a great time.”

Matthew Boyle, the journalist who interviewed the Greek Prime Minister, notes that the Prime Minister’s statement comes about a year after Mr. Mitsotakis had stated, following the imposition of tariffs by Donald Trump worldwide, that the US and the EU would soon reach a “win-win” agreement – an assessment that was confirmed a few months later, with the signing of a relevant agreement by the US President and Ursula von der Leyen.

In his new intervention, Mr. Mitsotakis returns, expressing hope for a corresponding development in US-Iran relations, noting that, after achieving military success on the part of the US, the emphasis is now shifting to economic consequences and diplomacy.

“Let us hope that there will be some form of agreement on the situation in the Middle East, as we are all concerned about the economic consequences,” he said characteristically. “From the beginning, we had made it clear that Iran cannot acquire a nuclear weapon, while as a country in the region we are concerned about its destabilizing role. However, we have reached a point where we must be particularly concerned about the economic consequences of the situation.”
