Greek-Australians Celebrate Dormition of the Theotokos
Australia's Greek community celebrated the Dormition of the Theotokos in Greek Orthodox Churches across the nation.
Many Greek-Australians broke their fast today, and attended Church services throughout this week in preparation for August 15th. It marks one of the holiest days on the Greek Orthodox calendar, and is commemorated by Greeks all over the world.
On Sunday, Melbourne's Pontian Association has orchestrated a festival commemorating the holy day, with Hellenic fare and dancing. It is being held at the Pontian Association and is free.
