Samaras & Anastasiades Discuss Upcoming NATO Summit

  • Written by

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades held an in-depth phone call, regarding Samaras' scheduled meeting with Turkish President Erdoğan, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit being held this Thursday and Friday.

Cypriot Government Spokesman Nicos Christodoulides wrote in an official announcement, that the call between the two leaders is directly associated with the close collaboration between the two nations.

Samaras and Anastasiades also discussed UN-approved negotiations regarding a Cypriot solution. Additionally, the two premiers agreed on the points that Samaras will table during the NATO Summit.

Athens and Nicosia both voiced their disapproval of Turkish President Erdoğan's illegal visit to the Northern territory of Cyprus earlier in the week. Both capitals condemned Erdoğan's stance, who stated that Athens is "not being consistent with its obligations" concerning a Cypriot solution, according to Parikiaki.
