Italy Concerned Over Turkey's EEZ Actions
Italy has voiced its concern regarding Turkey's action in Cyprus' restrictive EEZ, according to CNA.
Reportedly, Italy is "particularly disturbed" by the prohibited NAVTEX investigations by the Turkish Barbaros ship in the Greek-Cypriot region. NAVTEX defies the Republic of Cyprus' sovereign rights, along with the Italian-Korean conglomerate Eni-Kogas, who is authorized to administer hydrocarbon testing in the area by the nation.
Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades is scheduled to table Turkey's illegal acts in meetings on the margins of the 10th Asia-Europe Summit in Milan. Anastasiades is predicted to meet with the Italian Prime Minister and European Council President, along with other global leaders.
Meanwhile, House of Representatives President Yiannakis Omirou is in Brussels to conduct meetings with European delegates, concerning Turkey's EEZ illegalities. Omirou is set to discuss matters with European Parliament President Martin Shulz, along with European Parliament representatives.
Due to Turkey's EEZ breaches, the Republic of Cyprus has temporarily suspended its dialogue in UN-approved peace talks between the two territories.
