  • Written by

Cypriot House of Representatives President Yiannakis Omirou has voiced his content over occurrences in his Brussels meetings with European Parliament President Martin Schulz and other delegates, concerning Turkey's EEZ actions.

Omirou commented that his European Parliament discussions centered on Turkey's international law violations, EEZ activities, and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, according to Parikiaki.

The Cypriot House of Representatives President stated that he described how Turkey's illegalities endangers the stability, security, collaborations and harmony within the region. Omirou called for European institutions to assist in efforts, and that Turkey's wanted EU membership is not achievable with its current violations on a member nation.

Omirou claimed that Schulz understood his stance and that the EEZ acts will most likely be examined at the European Parliament. Previously, the Cypriot official held meetings with Freedom and Direct Democracy Group European Co-Chair David Borrelli and with Greek and Cypriot MEPs. The Cypriot House of Representative President is set to meet with additional political delegates during his stay in Brussels.
