During a telephone call between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, the latter proclaimed that a Cypriot solution must be founded on the joint declaration ratified by the nation's two leaders, according to Bayrak news portal.

The declaration was signed by both parties on February 11th. The Turkish Foreign Minister claimed that Turkey is supporting the negotiation's continuation in a productive manner. The phone call between the two leaders also focused on Syrian advancements and how to combat them.

As Bayrak reported, "Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu stressed Turkey's constructive support for the restart of the Cyprus negotiations and the need for reaching a mutual consensus which will be based on the joint declaration signed by the two leaders on the 11th of February 2014, in order to reach a just, permanent and comprehensive solution which will be based on the political equality of the two sides", according to Parikiaki.
