Cypriot Solution Must Be Reached Before Collaborative Hydrocarbon Activities
Cypriot House President Yiannakis Omirou has warned that prior to reaching a solution for Cyprus, there can't be any hydrocarbon collaborative exploration, management, or revenue allocation between the two territories of the nation.
When queried on the matter, Omirou claimed that the Hellenic government discussed with Turkish delegates, the Republic of Cyprus' stance on Turkey's illegal acts. The House President added that Turkey must abide by the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus so the two sides of the island can restart UN-approved negotiations, according to Parikiaki.
Omirou stated that along with stopping their Cypriot EEZ infractions, Turkey must demonstrate solid respect for the island's sovereign rights. The Cypriot House President feels that all legal dwellers of the Republic should have access to the benefits of hydrocarbon revenues, but not before reaching a solution to the Cyprus issue. Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades withdrew from negotiating in the UN-sanctioned talks, after Turkey's illegal NAVTEX activity in his nation's EEZ zone.
