Turkish President Erdogan Claims Cypriot Policy Remains

  • Written by

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey claimed that no adjustments will materialize on the nation's policy, regarding Turkish-Cypriots.

President Erdogan stated at the Sixth World Forum on Energy Regulation being held in Instanbul, "It is not possible for us to make any concessions on our policy regarding the Turkish Cypriots and the island's energy resources," as reported by Parikiaki. The Turkish leader also made claims that his country was a major player regarding the use and delivery of the island's assets, which are owned by each citizen.

Cyprus' political climate has improved recently, due to the resumption of UN-approved negotiations between the North and the South on May 15th, in addition to Mustafa Akinci's Turkish-Cypriot presidential post. Greek-Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Akinci held a meeting on May 23rd, while another is planned for the 28th.
