Turkish Military Jets Illegally Enter Greek Air Territory
Six Turkish fighter jets illegally flew over Greek national air territory today, as stated by Greek Defense delegates.
The Turkish military jets soared over the northern, southern, and central airspace above the Aegean sea. This is the second incident in the past two weeks, where Greek and Turkish relations have been threatened due to air territory concerns.
The waterways dividing the two nations hold maritime territories that are a consistent issue between them. In the past two years, Turkey has increasingly defied air regulations.
Al-Monitor reporter Metin Gurcan stated, "In the first month of 2014 alone, Turkish aircraft allegedly violated Greek airspace 1,017 times." Gurcan added, "This was twice the number of total airspace violations between the two countries for the first half of 2013."
