European Commission President Calls For Refugee Assistance
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is urging all EU nations to come to an agreement by next week, concerning the 160,000 displaced refugees and how to assist them.
Juncker cautioned that Greece, Hungary and Italy can not handle the situation on their own. The EC President stressed to EU law enactors, "The refugee crisis will not simply go away...It is high time to act."
Juncker added, "We are fighting against Islamic State, why are we not ready to accept those who are fleeing Islamic state?" The EC President revealed a new strategy for the 22 EU members to help 120,000 refugees from Greece, Hungary and Italy, while a previous May resolution called for assistance for an additional 40,000 refugees in Greece and Italy alone.
