Death of a muezzin in Hagia Sophia causes shock in Turkey

Featured Death of a muezzin in Hagia Sophia causes shock in Turkey

The news of the death of the muezzin, Osman Aslan, last Sunday in Hagia Sophia shocked the Turks.

The muezzin lost his life on August 2 due to a heart attack, surprising both his colleagues and those who knew him.

In fact, it was not long before a big "farewell wave" was created on Twitter, as the muezzin was widely loved by the faithful. The governor of Istanbul even paid tribute to the loss of Aslan by saying the following on his personal twitter account:

"We ask God to have mercy on the family and relatives of the Uhud Mosque, the Muezzin-Kayyum, who died during a voluntary guidance service in Hagia Sophia due to a heart attack."

The baton from the condolence tweet of the Governor of Istanbul was taken up by tens of thousands of users.

There are many, in fact, who interpreted the death of Aslan as a "sign from the god" for the transformation of the temple, from a museum to a mosque, waiting for the next sign.
