Latvia will become the 18th Eurozone members, at the same time, as Greece will be taking over the EU presidency, while after 12 months Latvia will be undertaking the presidency post, as announced by meeting foreign ministers of Greece and Latvia Evangelos Venizelos and Edgars Rinkēvičs, after their meeting in Athens.

The intention of the government to change the eletoral law, as concerns elections for local government, was announced by alternate interior minister Leonidas Grigorakos.

The initial meeting between the leadership of the finance ministry and the troika took place in a friendly climate.

As many as six people appeared before an investigating magistrate, four on Tuesday, to testify on charges of embezzling 1.1 million euros from sailors insurance fund Sailors' Home (Oikos Naftou).
