Clean Monday around Greece

Janissaries and Boules in Naoussa, Bell Ringers in Sohos and parades with floats steal the show on Clean Monday in northern Greece as they accompany the traditional events and customs for the "koulouma" and bring down the curtain on the carnival events.

FM Gerapetritis emphasises Alexandroupolis' role, speaking at East Macedonia & Thrace Forum

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis highlighted the importance of Alexandroupolis from a geostrategic, energy, logistics and defence point of view, while speaking at the East Macedonia & Thrace Forum II taking place in the Greek city on Thursday. Replying to the questions of journalist Alexandra Fotaki, he covered several aspects of the work of Greek diplomacy, such as the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine, relations with Turkiye, the Cyprus issue and the case of Fredi Beleri in neighbouring Albania.

Stournaras: ECB must reduce rates four times within 2024

The European Central Bank must cut borrowing costs twice before the August summer break and another two times before the end of the year, without being influenced by the US Federal Reserve, according to ECB Governing Council member and governor of the Bank of Greece (BoG) Yannis Stournaras.
