Greek Parliament passes austerity bill

Greek lawmakers approved of a third bailout agreement with European creditors in the early morning hours of Thursday by 229 to 64 with six MPs voting "present", in a vote that saw 39 ruling SYRIZA deputies defy the "party line" to set the stage for a government reshuffle or even an internal showdown.

Varoufakis controversial interview to NewStatesman

Former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis gave an interview certain to raise eyebrows to British political magazine Newstatesman where he admits for the first time that during the previous months he not only had a Grexit in mind but had suggested to the government to issue a parallel currency (IOU) and proceed to a haircut of Greek bonds held by the ECB if the lenders dared to close banks.

ND accusation: Minister withdraws savings before referendum

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) deputy Lefteris Avgenakis, representing Irakleio prefecture, on Tuesday, tabled a question requesting an inquiry into whether a “well-known” government minister withdrew200,000 euros from a fixed-term savings account days before capital controls were imposed!

Three hydrocarbon bids for western Greece and south of Crete

The Energy Ministry had received three bids for the concession of licenses for surveying and extracting hydrocarbons in 20 areas in the Ionian Sea and south of Crete before the deadline set for Tuesday, although the capital controls imposed do not allow for the publication of interested parties.
