Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing has englarged to an approximated $400 million dollars!
This marks the third biggest jackpot in the history of the multi-state lottery. It has been rolling since January 3rd; there were no matching numbers in Friday evening's drawing.
The largest lottery winning in the history of the United States was a Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million dollars back in 2012. Its rules have changed as of October, in order to increase jackpots by decreasing the chances of winning the highest prize. This results in approximately a 1 in 259 million chance of taking home the total amount. Before October's alterations, it was about a 1 in 176 million chance.
Tuesday evening's 10:00 p.m. drawing is likely to draw many gamers hoping to strike it big. Tickets can be purchased until 9:45 p.m. and are available in 43 states, Washington, D.C. and the Virgin Islands. After taxes, the Mega Millions jackpot is approximated at a $224.8 million dollars cash value. Jackpots begin at $15 million dollars but increase rapidly due to a plethora of included states and a miniscule chance of hitting the actual jackpot. Good luck to everyone!
