ActionAid Hellas Celebrates 15 Years in Color
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A symbolic and colorful message was sent by ActionAid Hellas and artist Mademoiselle Maurice, on Sunday, a few days after International Day Against poverty on the occasion of the organization's 15 year anniversary.
For the occasion the organizers chose one of the most emblematic buildings in Athens, the old Olympic Stadium, the Kallimarmaro, and called on volunteers of all ages to create a temporary intervention through a mass of folded multicolor papers fastened to gauze, forming a symbol that could be seen at great distances.
Gerasimos Kouvaras, ActionAid Hellas general manager, noted the organization's ever increasing efforts against poverty and injustice over the last 15 years.
Mademoiselle Maurice stated her personal pleasure at designing and participating in the project, which after completion was removed to retain the stadium's original appearance.
