- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A new case of attempted illegal adoption and possible kidnapping involving three Roma that attempted to get a birth certificate for a 2.5 year old boy at the Mytilene registry.
According to police the persons involved are a 51 year old woman, her 21 year old son, and his 19 year old girlfriend.
The three attempted a few days ago to register the child that looked nothing like them at the island's registry but lacked the necessary documents. Local officials troubled by the recent case of the little girl found in a Roma camp, notified police, who eventually found them a little outside of town, today.
Initially the three said the child was there , but later began changing their stories end up in conflicting versions. Eventually, the 51 year old said that she had been given the child by another Roma woman outside the local hospital, who said she had no means to raise it.
In another version they told police the child had been given by relatives in Athens and they will present themselves soon to claim it.
