ECB keeps ELA for Greek banks steady, capital controls continue

The European Central Bank (ECB) governing council has left the lending limit for Greek banks from Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA) unchanged at just under 89 billion euros, during a meeting of its governing board on Monday, sources said.

In light of the decision, Greece's Alternate Finance Minister Dimitris Mardas has decided to extend a bank holiday for a few more days, as well as restrictions on cash withdrawal, during a meeting held at the General Accounting Office with bank representatives earlier on Monday.
Details are to be included in a Legislative Act to be issued later in the day, while the ECB will re-examine its decision on Wednesday.
