Minister of Defense dedicates wreath to Imia heroes

Defense Minister Panos Kammenos flew over the Imia islets in a Navy helicopter and threw a wreath at the place where in the earlymorning of January 31, 1996a Navy helicopter crashed while on a mission during a confrontation between Greece and Turkey.
The Minister of Defense arrived at the point with the Navy helicopter while with him was the chief of the Air Force General Staff Lieutenant General Christos Christodoulou to honor the fallen crew of that fated flight: Christodoulos Karathanasis, Ektoras Gialopsos and Panagiotis Vlachakos.
Mr Kammenos as shown in photos posted on Twitter flew over the rocks just before 8:20 in the morning.
Mr Kammenos has dedicated a wreath in memory of the heroes of Imia annually, since he took over the Ministry of Defense,
