FM Dendias in surprise visit to Libya
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Arab media reported that Nikos Dendias is visiting Benghazi today to meet with National Libyan Army leader Khalifa Haftar. The government has not officially confirmed this, but the foreign minister made the trip. This visit had been preceded by Mr. Dedia's previous visits to Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.
Shortly before 11am on Sunday morning, the Libya Times posted on Twitter a video of Nikos Dendia's arrival in Benghazi.
Reportedly, Nikos Dendias - who travels with the government aircraft - will make another "stop" before returning to Athens, but nothing has been officially announced by the foreign ministry. This is coming as tensions in Libya have escalated, with Turkey and Russia involved, raising concerns in the United States.
