The world's largest and heaviest aircraft, the impressive Ukrainian Soviet-built Antonov An-225 Mriya, landed at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport last Wednesday (13/05).
According to information, the aircraft arrived in Athens transporting medical supplies from China. The plane was specially designed to carry the Soviet space shuttle Buran on its "back".
In general, the Antonov An-225 is available for heavy-duty commercial transport due to the large interior space of its fuselage. His maiden flight took place in 1988 and he was commissioned a year later.
The giant Ukrainian-made plane is 43 meters long, can hold 16 containers, 80 passenger cars and even an entire Boeing 737.
