FM Dendias to Libyan Deputy PM Al-Qatrani: 'Thank you for your direct stance on the illegal memorandum with Turkey'

Greece is at Libya's disposal "for an agreement on our maritime zones," said Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias after his meeting with Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Atiya Abdul Hafeez Al-Qatrani in Benghazi on Monday.
The two countries had come very close in 2010, "when they were only a few steps away from completing that agreement," noted the Greek minister.
Dendias also thanked Al-Qatrani for what he called his "direct stance on the illegal memorandum signed by the Libyan Government of National Accord's (GNA) directorate and Turkey on maritime zones."
Greece has always supported the idea that a solution in Libya must come from the immediate withdrawal of all foreign military forces and mercenaries, he noted.
"We are here to activate an entire framework of agreements with Libya and to also reach new agreements, to help in any way we can for the country's reconstruction," he underlined.
In this context, he highlighted, "Greece immediately opened its embassy in Tripoli and this is why its consulate in Benghazi will open on Monday."
