The invitation to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to speak in the Greek Parliament was addressed by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis after a communication that the two men had this afternoon.

During their conversation, Volodymyr Zelenski congratulated Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the occasion of the national anniversary of March 25, while Mr. Mitsotakis referred to the connection of Odessa with the history of Hellenism and the beginning of the Greek revolution.

In this context, the Prime Minister addressed an invitation to Mr. Zelenski to speak via teleconference in the Greek Parliament. The date of Mr. Zelensky's speech will be set in the near future through diplomatic channels.

Earlier in his message for March 25, Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed that the desire for his freedom then, becomes solidarity with Ukraine today.

"The universal ideas of the '21 uprising cross borders and centuries. Thus, the desire for his freedom then, becomes solidarity with the defenders of Ukraine today. The vision of the Greeks for a modern state is raised again alive in Europe in the face of authoritarian despotism. And the position of the old philhellenic movement is now taking a wave of international solidarity ", noted Mr. Mitsotakis in his message and added:

"201 years ago, a struggle started by a few, which many in the world did not believe. And yet he succeeded! We are all called to give the fight of our times together. We are, after all, armed with the lessons that our free state has given birth to: With confidence in our strengths. The cool insight. And the willingness to make every obstacle a springboard.

"So, we celebrate March 25, as the situation demands. Turning thinking about the past into dynamism for the present and planning for the future. For a homeland that comes from far away and travels far away ".
