- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Kyriakos Mitsotakis delivered his message for the 50th anniversary of the Polytechnic University. At the beginning, the prime minister said that the uprising remains one of the most important pages in the history of Greece.
Furthermore, the prime minister emphasized that "November 1973, therefore, continues to inspire through the constant renewal of its demands". He continues by saying that "A country with a united society, which claims a better everyday life and develops for the benefit of all its citizens".
The Prime Minister's entire message
"Fifty years later, the Polytechnic uprising remains an important page in our modern history, but also a catalyst for its evolution. A beacon that lights the way to a more open and democratic society. Because it is possible that for half a century the state has taken root and progressed as never before. However, neither those who planned it, nor the new dangers that threaten it have been lacking.
November 1973, therefore, continues to inspire through the constant renewal of its demands. With the motto "Bread-Education-Freedom" fueling, today, the effort for a more modern and strong Greece. A country with a united society, which claims a better everyday life and grows for the benefit of all its citizens.
We welcome the 50th anniversary of the uprising, honoring the fighters against the dictatorship. Away from party cabals that insult it, diminishing its stature. And we keep its regenerative spirit active under the new circumstances. After all, this is the only way "the Polytechnic lives" throughout time. So that it always expresses the expectations of the Greeks for a more optimistic future."
