The Holocaust Museum under construction was visited by the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, together with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank–Walter Steinmeier, who is making an official visit to Greece from 29 to 31 October.

The aim of the visit was to learn about the progress of the project, located in western Thessaloniki, and the visit included a meeting with two women survivors of the Holocaust and a symbolic tree planting by the two presidents.

An event is scheduled at 14:15 at the Goethe Institute in Thessaloniki, in the presence of the German President, followed immediately by his departure for Athens, where he is expected at 16:30.

In Athens, the German President will visit the pharmaceutical company Boehringer-Ingelheim and at 8:00 p.m. the studio of visual artist Theo Triantafyllidis.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30, Frank-Walter Steinmeier will lay a wreath at 09.50 in the morning at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier and will then go to the Presidential Palace, where he will have a private meeting with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, followed by extended talks between the two delegations.

Immediately afterward, at 11:15 a.m., the President of Germany will go to the Maximou Mansion for a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and extended talks between the two delegations.

Afterwards, at 12:05 p.m. Steinmeier will visit the Numismatic Museum and at 1:10 p.m. he will participate in the commemorative event for “150 years of the German Archaeological Institute of Athens”.

At 15:15 the President of Germany will visit the K.Y.T. Malakassa and in the afternoon at 18:45, he will attend an event at the archaeological site of Kerameikos.

In the evening of the same day, at 20:30, the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou will host an official dinner in honour of Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Budenbender at the Presidential Palace.
