The 61-year-old man who murdered his parents in Messinia had been hospitalized in psychiatric institutions a total of ten times, within 22 years.

His hospitalizations were sometimes voluntary and other times involuntary, while based on medical reports, he suffers from schizophrenia, schizotypal and delusional disorders.

In fact, according to information, the last time the procedure for his involuntary hospitalization was followed was exactly one year before his heinous act, on 25/6/2024, by the Kalamata Police Department.

He confessed to the police that he killed his parents, indicating the place where he had hidden the scissors with which he had caused them multiple injuries, which were found bloody. His father was 96 years old and his mother 93.

The chronicle of the double murder
Around 6 pm on Sunday, an 80-year-old neighbor of the family in Sperchogeia, called the police asking for police to go to the 96-year-old's house, giving his name, as he had understood that a serious incident had occurred.

When the Hellenic Police arrived at the scene, they found both the 96-year-old and his 93-year-old wife murdered inside the house, while their 61-year-old son was there, whom they brought in.

According to the information, the neighbor went to the house as a relative of the elderly couple was allegedly looking for them.

However, when he entered the house, he found their 61-year-old son, naked, whom he asked where his parents were.

He allegedly replied that his parents were in the bedroom, and when the neighbor entered he found them in a pool of blood.

In fact, according to testimonies from residents of the area, the confessed murderer caused terror in the local community as they knew that he was dealing with various issues and was involved in fights.

The double murder is estimated to have occurred after 11 in the morning, while the forensic examination will provide answers about the exact time they were murdered as well as how many injuries they received.
