Police arrest cocaine smuggling ring - They had soaked hides in the drug and extracted it with chemicals
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The moment of the arrest of a member of the drug trafficking ring based in a house-factory in Pikermi was recorded by protothema.gr
As can be seen in the video, the Greek police officers who participated in the operation wore special masks for the fumes from the processing of cocaine by the ring members.
Police sources speak of a “factory” inside the house so that the ring could extract cocaine from impregnated hides found on pallets that they had imported from abroad.
The initial estimates of the Greek officers are that the hides probably arrived in Greece in containers from Latin American countries. The ring members then processed the leathers with special solvents in order to extract the cocaine.
The hides are numerous and in stacks. The ring is said to have extracted the cocaine and then exported it in order to traffic it in Greece and abroad.
According to the same sources, the police have already arrested 11 people:
5 Greeks
3 Albanians
1 Bolivian
1 Georgian
1 Spaniard
The operation is continuing to identify other members of the ring. Among those arrested is a person with knowledge of chemistry.
