Farmers have completely blocked the Tempi tunnels, "blocking" the highway in both directions, escalating their protests after the government's announcements.
In particular, according to larissanet.gr, shortly after 1 pm, a convoy of tractors and agricultural machinery arrived at the Tempi tunnels, interrupting traffic in both directions. The farmers are determined to remain steadfast and have begun a 48-hour blockade of the site, as decided at the General Assembly held yesterday at the Nikaia blockade.
Approximately 140 tractors arrived at the site, with the farmers honking their vehicle horns, while farmers and livestock farmers from the Nikaia blockade burned bales of straw, sending a message of continuing the protests.
At the same time, at 2:30 in the afternoon, the "country was literally cut in two", since farmers with 120 tractors from the Bralos blockade "blocked" all the roads and no one can move in any direction.
"We will not leave our land" - Farmers call for dialogue with K. Mitsotakis
"The government's announcements did not offer anything in terms of solving the problems", noted the farmers who are escalating their mobilizations over the next two days. "We heard general words, which cannot be implemented", the vice-president of the United Federation of Agricultural Associations of Larissa, Socrates Aliftiras, told larissanet.gr.
He explained that there is constant communication between the blocs and they will decide their next steps, since the government does not provide solutions.
At the same time, they call on the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to come to the dialogue table with a delegation of all the blocs. “We want answers to the 14 requests that we have sent since December 14”.
For his part, the mayor of Tyrnavos, Stelios Tsikritsis, noted in the same media that “the farmers are expressing their indignation and anger against the government’s announcements. The government must provide answers to the fair requests, because the cities and villages of the province are extinguishing, along with the farming, livestock farming”.
The president of the Magnesia Livestock Breeders, Giorgos Terzakis, noted for his part that "the primary sector will not back down if we do not take what belongs to us. The world is with us so that we can stay on our land. They cannot command 300 with the way I want it...".
