The Greek Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the Emir's presence, underlining the importance of the dialogue: "I appreciate the fact that you are here to discuss the worrying regional developments but also the bilateral economic cooperation that is constantly being strengthened." He also emphasized Greece's long-standing stance, noting that "Greece stood by all the Gulf countries" and supported Qatar "in the face of an unprovoked attack."

Particular reference was made to efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, with the Prime Minister stating: “We appreciate your country’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire and to establish sustainable peace, in order to ensure permanent freedom of navigation in the region, which will allow us to overcome the consequences affecting all economies.”

Regarding the economy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the country’s positive progress, stating: “I appreciate Qatar’s commitment to invest in Greece. Our economy has made significant progress. We have achieved the largest debt reduction as a percentage of GDP in the history of the OECD and we are growing faster than other EU countries.” At the same time, he expressed his optimism that “a new chapter in economic cooperation” between the two countries is opening.

For his part, the Emir of Qatar underlined the frequent communication between the two sides in recent times, saying: “We have spoken many times during this period”. He thanked Greece for its stance, stressing: “I would like to thank you and your country for standing by your friends in this conflict. We appreciate your country’s efforts”.

He also expressed hope for a quick end to the crisis: “We hope that this conflict will end very quickly through negotiations”. Referring to bilateral relations, he noted that “we are very happy with these relations”, adding that “our investments in Greece are doing great”.

The Emir praised the course of the Greek economy, stating that “your economy is doing well under your leadership” and expressed interest in further cooperation: “We look forward to other opportunities for investments in your country”.
