Polls Reveal New Democracy's Lead
Greek coalition colleagues New Democracy and PASOK are aiming to stimulate their political party cores, in order to cripple SYRIZA's desire for a snap national vote.
The current governmental coalition will finish its term in June 2016, however SYRIZA has placed pressure to create an early vote, which will hinder a new 2015 presidential election. This weekend, New Democracy held two opinion polls that affirmed the party's slight lead over SYRIZA.
The MRB poll that was announced on Star TV, revealed New Democracy's 21.9% lead, with SYRIZA trailing right behind at 21.3%. The center-left party Elia generated 5.1% of the votes. A Metron Analysis poll, conducted by Ethnos and published today, determined a 20.6% New Democracy stride, with SYRIZA gaining 20% and Elia reaching 4.2% of the votes.
Conservative party representatives are hopeful that tomorrow's Eurogroup summit debt relief discussions and the nation's peak season, will enhance the economy and regain their popularity. Simultaneously, PASOK is working tirelessly to regain its political pertinence.
