Juncker Views SYRIZA's Tsipras as Major Risk
Former Eurogroup chairman and center-right candidate for European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, does not believe SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras is an appropriate Greek Prime Minister.
Juncker views his leftist competition as one who would not cooperate positively with the EC. In a euro2day.gr interview, Juncker claimed that Tsipiras is not at all qualified to lead Greece or the EU.
He stated, "I would be willing to cooperate with him but I don't think he would be willing to do so if he became Prime Minster of Greece. The prior Eurogroup chairman added, that Tsipras would be "a major risk for the country", as reported by Kathimerini.
Juncker views the young SYRIZA leader as one who: "...has not adequately understood what the problems are in Greece and [what the problems] are in Europe relating to Greece". He discussed Greece's current progress, but warned that the financial crisis has not been defeated and fiscal adjustment is still required.
