Minister of Education Implements Stricter Student Regulations
The Greek Minister of Education Andreas Loverdos declared that approximately 180,000 "eternal students" will be expelled from Hellenic universities, according to To Vima.
The Minister of Education stated that legislation concerning the issue will be applied in the upcoming school year. Loverdos commented, "since 2007 and 2011, university students who have not completed their studies while remaining registered at the institutions have been notified that they will be expelled in September 2014".
Loverdos referenced how educational institutions have offered supplementary test dates for students who have yet to graduate. The new educational legislation is predicted to cause controversy among institutional bodies and students.
